Joachim Seitfudem’s sculptural work extends beyond the studio into institutional, public and sacred spaces. His works enter into dialogue with architecture, history and spiritual presence.
Selected Projects
Two works, two spaces
This page focuses on two central public and institutional placements: Mutterliebe in St. Jacob’s Church in Antwerp and Distanz in the mSE Kunsthalle / Museum Unterammergau. Together, they show two important directions in Seitfudem’s work: sacred presence and human connection.
Sacred Work
Mutterliebe
St. Jacob’s Church, Antwerp
Mutterliebe was created for the historic St. Jacob’s Church in Antwerp, a sacred space closely connected to Peter Paul Rubens. The sculpture reflects motherhood, devotion and spiritual protection, bringing contemporary figurative sculpture into dialogue with centuries of sacred art.
Placed within the atmosphere of the church, the work becomes more than an object. It becomes a quiet presence — a symbol of care, vulnerability and spiritual strength.

A sacred work in motion
The short film presents Mutterliebe in its architectural and spiritual context, allowing the work to be experienced through light, detail and movement.
Museum Placement
Distanz
mSE Kunsthalle / Museum Unterammergau
Distanz marks an important milestone in Joachim Seitfudem’s artistic development. It was the first bronze sculpture he ever created and was produced as a limited edition of seven.
The final piece of the edition, 7/7, is now placed in the mSE Kunsthalle / Museum Unterammergau. The work reflects the human longing for closeness, touch and connection — themes that became especially present during a time of social distance and isolation.
